Four years ago, PalmPay, in partnership with VISA, tried to launch virtual cards to users in Nigeria, Ghana and Tanzania. However, only the Ghanain virtual card came to live and now has been disabled. Back then, you can register for PalmPay Virtual Card and get 2% cashbacks on every purchases you make online.
Till date, PalmPay has no virtual card in Nigeria. You can only request for it QR card; the card that function similar to ATM card, in Nigeria. PalmPay also offers QR code which is accessible via the fintech app. The PalmPay QR code can be scanned at any merchants terminal to payments.
PalmPay Virtual Card
PalmPay doesn’t offer a virtual card in Nigeria. Instead, the fintech company provide a physical card called a PalmPay QR Card that functions like a virtual card for online transactions.
However, do note that the QR Card cannot be used at the ATMs. You can only use the card (consisting of QR number and code that can be scanned) for secure online payments. More so, viewing and managing the card transactions can be done directly in your PalmPay app.
In a nutshell, PalmPay QR card offers the features and benefits of a virtual card (online transactions) with the added security of a physical card (with QR code and card numbers).
Does PalmPay have ATM Card?
Although, PalmPay is a popular mobile wallet known for its convenient digital transactions. But what if you need cash at hands? Can you use PalmPay at an ATM?
The Short Answer: No, PalmPay doesn’t currently offer ATM debit cards. The fintech company focuses on digital finance in Nigeria. Its services revolve around the app, making sending, receiving, and paying bills a breeze.
However, if you need to withdraw some cash from the ATM, you can use alternate method; transfer money from your PalmPay account to a linked bank account (like GTB or KUDA) and then withdraw cash using your bank’s ATM card.
